Volunteer

BRAT only exists because of the dedication and support of its volunteers. There are plenty of opportunities to help out, and we ask that every member gives up just a few a hours a year. This might be to lead or coach a session (full training will be provided and funded), as a marshall or steward at an event we run or support, or behind the scenes with the running of the Club by supporting the committee.

Athletics (Track & Field)

We particularly welcome support with our junior sessions. We believe that giving young people encouragement and support to be fit and healthy from an early age is essential. All members are welcome to help out and then potentially qualify as an assistant or coach.

Swimming

Driven by the availability of pool hire, some of our swimming sessions are at anti-social hours, but seeing progression in swimmers is massively rewarding. There are opportunities for coaches and assistants, and understanding more about the technical aspects of the sport helps coaches develop themselves as athletes.

Cycling

Volunteers are needed to help revitalise some of the areas of cycling  in the Club. This isn’t about qualificatioins or coaching, but about establishing a sense of momentum behind group rides. It’s really nothing more than sharing your love, and being joined by friends old and new.

Running

The weekly run sessions are very popular and there is a core of run leaders who have kindly stepped up to lead on this area of the Club’s training. However they always welcome more support, and the more people we have happy to take groups the more choices there are about pace and distance for members.
