The winter cross-country season culminated in one of the most prestigious events on the domestic calendar this past weekend: the UKCAU Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships in Nottingham. Just being selected to wear the county vest is a massive honour, and we were incredibly proud to see several of our athletes stepping up to compete against the very best in the UK.

The Inter-Counties is notorious for its huge, fiercely competitive fields, gathering the top runners from every region across the country to battle it out over gruelling, muddy terrain.
Our athletes represented their county with absolute distinction, digging deep in challenging conditions to produce some fantastic results.
🌟 Dawlatly Cracks the Top 50
The standout performance of the day came in the U17 Men’s race from Elliot Dawlatly. In a field packed with elite national talent, Elliot ran a phenomenal race to cross the line in 50th place. To finish inside the top 50 at the Inter-Counties is an exceptional achievement and a testament to the hard work he has put in all winter.

💪 Strong Showings in the U20s and U17s
The step up to the U20 age group is notoriously tough, bringing longer distances and relentless pacing.
In the U20 Men’s race, Kaelen van Vliet put in a highly resilient performance, battling through the mud to secure a very strong 109th place. He was followed home by clubmate George McMillan, who also ran a gritty race to finish in 154th place.
In the U20 Women’s race, Lauren Hevey showed her endurance and class against a high-quality field, pacing her effort brilliantly to cross the finish line in 119th place.

Meanwhile, in the massive U17 Women’s race, Amira Emery gained incredibly valuable national-level experience. Running in one of the most densely packed races of the day, Amira fought hard from the gun to the finish funnel to secure 196th place.
A massive congratulations to Elliot, Kaelen, George, Lauren, and Amira! Earning a county call-up is a huge milestone, and you have all done yourselves and the club incredibly proud.
As the mud finally dries and the cross-country season draws to a close, it’s safe to say our athletes are looking strong and ready for the upcoming track and road season!
