With the end of the season fast approaching this was the penultimate weekend for the BRAT Juniors to improve on their PBs and move up in the Club Championships. It was an early start for some with the first events kicking off at 10:00, and a long day for those competing in the Quadrathons.
U15 Ruby Smith improved on her discus PB with a throw of 20.32 to move her up to a Standard 4 and U15 Isabelle Carruthers threw a PB in the shot with 7.70. U15 Isla O’Connor improved on her long jump by a whopping 65cm to jump a PB of 4.46m and U15 Jake Gosnall jumped a further 5cm in the High Jump to clear 1.60m. Jake also ran a PB in the 300m in a time of 39.7 and U15 May Smith ran a PB in the 800m in a time of 2.38.8. U15 Jamie Callaghan threw a PB of 40.10 in the hammer to move him up to a Standard 2.
U23 Khari Mitchell-Lewis was the only BRAT hurdling, and he ran a PB of 15.7 in the 110m hurdles.
The U11’s and U13’s were taking part in the Quadrathons, which consisted of a 75m or 100m, a standing long jump, the 600m or 800m and a howler throw. Overall, U11 Leanna Rendell won Bronze in her age group, U13 Dylan Gargett Bronze and Robert Lee Silver and U13 Evie Rendell Gold which is an amazing achievement to have 4 BRATs on the podiums. Unfortunately there was a mis-calculation on the day which resulted in Dylan finishing 4th so we have no podium picture, but they have now rectified the results and posted him out his medal.
BRAT had 4 U11’s taking part (there were 31 participants overall) and 6 U13’s out of 33 participants and a number of PBs for the athletes. U11’s Mustopha Bailey, Leanna Rendell and Josephine Colclough ran PBs in the 75m in 13.2, 12.5 and 12.8 seconds respectively. U13’s Robert Lee, Anthony Golding, Evie Rendell, Dylan Gargett, Erin McDaid and Noor Bailey all ran PBs in the 100m in 13.4, 13.9, 14.3, 14.9, 15.3 and 16.1
Well done to all.
