The U11s have done lots of quadrathlon practice over the summer, so it was great to see our young BRAT juniors taking those valuable skills with them to competition. The quadrathlon at Leamington was the Warwickshire U11 county championships, a great competition for our young crew.

Oliver Knight took the county title with an impressive score of 237 points, 15 points ahead of second place. An impressive throw of 35m in the howler secured the win, after impressive performances of 12.0s, 3.32m and 1:59.9 respectively in the 75m, long jump and 600m. Well done Olly! Will Tinsley and Mustopha Bailey also both performed strongly, recording various PBs across multiple events.

As for the girls, lots of our athletes were also in the first year of the U11 age group and therefore can have another go next year. From the year 4 girls, Amber Stevens and Josephine Colclough finished 1st and 3rd respectively. An almighty 600m from both girls brought them up to 182 and 174 points, well done both! Noor Bailey jumped a (then) PB of 3.39m in the long jump and Oshi Knox ran an impressive 12.2s in the 75m. As for the even younger BRAT juniors, Hiba Bailey finished 3rd from the year 3 girls and is looking forward to coming back next year when she is a little bit older!

From my point of view, it’s great to see our younger athletes getting involved in competition as this lays the foundation for the older age groups. Well done all!

I found myself travelling back to Leamington the following day to do a bit of officiating and also watch Noor have a go at the high jump (before we all went trampolining!). By virtue of not having done HJ before, Noor secured a PB of 1.10m. Notable performances on the day were by Bonheur Tshibola who threw a PB of 9.92m in the shot putt to claim 1st place. Bonheur also recorded a PB of 13.70s in the 100m to win her heat, and also recorded an impressive 300m time of 45.14. There were also PBs on the day for Izzy Carruthers, Poppy Close, Jemima Jackson and Lily Smith. Good job team!
