On Saturday, 2nd May, history was made as the brand-new U12 BSB (BRAT, Sutton, Birchfield) League officially launched at the iconic Alexander Stadium. This league was specifically established to address a vital gap in the local sporting calendar: providing high-quality, dedicated competition opportunities for Under-12 athletes. πββοΈπββοΈ We set this league up with the clear purpose of ensuring our youngest members have a consistent platform to develop their skills in a professional, world-class environment. π
For many of these young athletes, it was their first ever experience competing in a stadium of this caliber. The focus of the day was firmly on participation, team spirit, and mutual encouragement. Seeing the stadium filled with young energy, across every sprint, jump, and throw, was a fantastic sight. The atmosphere was electric, with a heavy emphasis on athletes from all three clubs supporting one another and celebrating every achievement, regardless of the club vest they wore. π€β€οΈ
We are incredibly proud to report that BRAT led the way in terms of participation. We had more athletes attend than the other clubs, showing the incredible strength and enthusiasm of our junior section. This turnout highlights our primary goal for the BSB League: getting as many young people as possible onto the track and into the field to enjoy the sport! π΄β«οΈ

He also demonstrated his versatility and endurance by placing 6th overall in the 600m with a time of 02:08.3 and recording a strong 3.17m in the Long Jump. β‘οΈ

The track was filled with red and black success, with Jaiya Sami (11.9s) and Daniel Frimpong (11.5s) also securing top results in their respective 75m heats. In the non-scoring U10 events, which provided a great introduction to racing, Jackson Vaughan and Muadh Mohamed both impressed the crowd with their determination, recording times of 9.8s and 9.3s in the 50m, respectively. ππ
Team Spirit and Standings ππ
As the final points were tallied at the end of the day, the standings were as follows:
- Birchfield Harriers: 302.5 points π₯
- BRAT: 234.5 points π₯
- Royal Sutton Coldfield AC: 201 points π₯
While Birchfield took the top spot this time, the overall standings were incredibly competitive. However, we must emphasize that for BRAT, our primary motivation is not the leaderboard, but competing as a team and supporting each other. The way our athletes cheered for one another and helped each other through the events was the true highlight of the day. π£π€
Congratulations to every single athlete who donned the vest and gave their all. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork on display and canβt wait to see you all for Match 2! π΄β«οΈπͺ
