BRAT youngsters shine at County Championships

On a beautiful sunny and warm spring weekend on May 11/12th our youngsters produce 28 performances in finals at the Warwickshire and Worcsetershire championships and came away with a magnificent 5 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Star performance was by U13G Lily Smith, at the Warwickshire championships, who won both 200m in 29.40s, after a 29.25s heat, and Long Jump with 4.60m. She then followed these up with a second place in the 100m in 13.92s, following a 13.69s heat.

Not to be out done, sister May Smith won the U13G Discus with throw of 14.14m. Another discus winner was U13B Solomon Humphries with a pb throw of 17.88m, ranking him in the UK top 20.

Our final winner was Jacob Gosnall in the Long Jump at the Worcestershire Chjampionships, with a leap of 4.29m and he also secured 3rd place in the 100m in a time of 14.3s.

Silver medals were achieved by Evie Rendell, in the U11G quadkids competition,with 220 points, John Stolberg in the 400m H ina pb of 61.20s and Jamie Callaghan in the U13B shot put, with a pb of 6.68m. Jamie also won a bronze in the U13B discus, again with a pb of 16.20m.

Our final bronze medal was won by Maisie Scamp in the U15G 300m in a super time of 45.72s.

Just missing out on medals in 4trh place were Eve Godsal in the U15G 75m H in a club record time of 12.52s, missing out on a medal by a galling 0.05s, and Zac Humphries in the 80m H in a pb of 13.35s.

In 5th place were Josie Williams in the U15 SP in 7.69m and LJ in 4.14m and Lara Stevens in the U13G 800m in 2m 39.59s.

In 6th place were Simran Watson in the U15G 75mH in 13.45s, May Smith in the U13G 200m in 31.90s and Jamie Callaghan in the U13 JT in 16.27m.

In 7th places were Solomon Humphries in the U13 JT in 15.28s and Maisie Scamp in the U15 HJ with a leap of 1.35m.

In the U11 boys quadkids Dylan Gargett came 8th with 204 points , whilst Samuel Vaughan was 23rd with 165 points.

Our remaining finalists all competed in the Long Jump, with May Smith 10th in the U13G, with 3.61m, Lilian Smith 11th with 3.78m and Ruby Morais-Trigg 12th with 3.66m, both in the U15G.

Altogether a very satisfying weekend for the club and all the athletes who took part.
